After the whole drama passed Takumi and Chip came up with a new theory why Alaska drew the daisy, when she was a kid her mom used to put flowers in her hair and later remembered yesterday (January 10th) had been her death anniversary; so she freaked out and when with the white tulips to her graveyard and maybe accidentally or on purpose crashed. The theory the got explained pretty much everything so for a few months they started focusing on school because finals were coming. Then Dr. Hyde, their teacher tells them his final paper will be on Alaska's questions, how do you get out of the labyrinth. As Miles wonders his answer he gets a note from Takumi that was leaving for the summer to Japan that tells him he saw her that night, she was very anxious and frenzy, he helped get the white tulips but never expected for her to drive 3 AM in the morning and how guilty he felt all this time. When Miles read this he understood the way out of the labyrinth is through .......(NOT GOING TO TELL) and writes down his paper about and accepts Alaska's death.

''We'd failed, maybe, but some mysteries aren't meant to be solved'' (Green 213)
I'm sad that at the end we never got to truly understand why Alaska did that but it also part of her charm to be mysterious. I think sometimes the truth can harm even more than a lie because it might not be what you want to hear.
''I liked the idea of connecting and action with remembering'' (Green 193.)
I find that us humans require religion to understand life; and rituals to make matter matter. When Chip, Miles, Takumi and Lara throw cigarettes in the Smoking Hole, the actual cigarette means nothing but they gave it value. They connected the piece of matter with the spirit of someone because that is how some can heal. People get used to having everything all the time even though everytihng in life is temporary so when we lose something, we bring back things that represent that person.
The book Looking For Alaska by John Green is one of the best books I've ever read. This book taught me weird things that I would have never noticed by myself. The amount of detail John put into this novel really made it a peace of art. I loved how he used characterisation to tell the story through small hints that later connected. The characters he choose were perfect. Alaska was almost palpable, her description was amazing, she was such an unpredictable twist that spiced up the story.
Even though this book had a very weird end, I think it made perfect sense with the author and the story's conflict, it is both sad and sweet but at the same time leaves you wanting more.

I liked how you used a lot of imagery. You did a great job in explaining what the story was about but, next time it would be better if you make the summary a little shorter.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this blog in the way about talking about the book itself as a narrated story, this book looks like it´s intense and that it really leaves on the edge. I liked how you used the quotes in order to reflect the character´s feelings as well. I wish I knew what is the way out of the labyrinth so I would not be hanging like this..
